About the Role:
The Service Guidance and Practice Branch is responsible for the design and delivery of guidance to operationalise policy, improvements and system enhancements, to support the Agency’s front line (National Delivery).

The branch develops operational guidelines and internal staff guidance about using our business system. This guidance enables front line staff to make consistent decisions when working with participants.

The branch also develops a range of material for participants and external stakeholders, such as the Would we Fund it Guide, letters, forms and factsheets.

Responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:

  • Researching, drafting and updating internal and external guidance with a participant focus that reflects the Agency’s policy positions and meets agency’s plain English and accessibility standards.
  • Interpreting the policy and legislative environment the branch operates in, including understanding and translating the NDIS Act and NDIS Rules into Our Guidelines.
  • Developing or updating guidance material in response to participant and external stakeholder feedback.
  • Understanding the key stages of the participant pathway, specific participant cohorts and technical processes within SAP CRM and PACE business system requirements.
  • Providing service delivery knowledge and advice about procedural guidance, practice implementation and operational matters as needed to support an improved participant experience.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement, maintaining best practice and innovation in the branch.
  • Managing multiple priorities while maintaining high work standards, governance protocols and accuracy, meeting defined timeframes and performing other duties as requested.

Skills and Experience
Key skills required for the role

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders and represent the work area in relation to guidance development.
  • Ability to interpret and draft policy and procedural information into clear and easy to understand guidance material.
  • Ability to write documents in Plain English
  • Ability to develop and update documents to include the process steps for our Customer Records Management System
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining high work standards and accuracy, meeting defined timeframes and performing other duties as requested.
  • Ability to work under limited direction, guided by policies, accepted standards and precedents.
  • Understanding of the NDIS and the NDIS Act 2013

Desirable skills to have for the role

  • Experience working in Confluence platform and JIRA project management tool
  • Comfortable with new ways of thinking about accessibility and enthusiasm for accessible design and development will be highly regarded
  • Understand how to develop Plain English resources within the government style guide parameters
  • Work well within a geographically dispersed and online team environment
  • Well-developed and demonstrable critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Eligibility/Other Requirements: The successful candidate will be required to undergo a pre-employment National Police History check, Worker Screening check and/or Working with Children Check (where required) and provide evidence of Australian Citizenship.
