Business Continuity Manager // Contract role

Our Client is a Tier 1 client in the Financial Services sector. They are seeking an experienced Business Continuity Manager with a background in superannuation or financial services to join our team. The Business Continuity Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing business continuity and disaster recovery programs. The role ensures that the organization can continue to deliver critical services in the event of disruptions, including system failures, cyber incidents, and natural disasters. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of risk management, business continuity best practices, and regulatory requirements in the financial services sector.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain the organization’s Business Continuity (BC) and Disaster Recovery (DR) programs in line with industry best practices and regulatory standards.
  • Conduct Business Impact Analysis (BIA) to identify critical business functions, risks, and dependencies across the organization.
  • Collaborate with senior management, risk management, IT, and other stakeholders to ensure BC/DR plans are aligned with the company’s strategic goals and risk management framework.
  • Manage the ongoing review and testing of BC/DR plans, including conducting regular simulation exercises and crisis management drills.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations (e.g., APRA, ASIC) regarding business continuity and operational resilience, particularly in the superannuation or financial services space.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key external partners, vendors, and service providers to support the continuity of operations during disruptions.
  • Provide training and awareness programs to employees on BC/DR policies and procedures.
  • Prepare reports and presentations for senior management and boards on the status of BC/DR plans, risk assessments, and incident responses.
  • Lead the response to actual business disruptions, coordinating crisis management efforts and recovery processes.
  • Stay up to date with emerging threats, technologies, and regulations related to business continuity in the financial services industry.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience in business continuity, disaster recovery, or operational resilience.
  • Strong understanding of financial regulations and compliance requirements (e.g., APRA, ASIC, SOX) related to business continuity.
  • Experience in superannuation, financial services or Telecomunication (A MUST)
  • Proven ability to manage business continuity programs and work under pressure during crises.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and project management skills.
  • Ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience with crisis management software and tools is an advantage.
