My client is a leading company within the renewables sector, based in Victoria with a growing presence across New South Wales, Queensland, and South Australia.

They are looking for an experienced electrical Commissioning Engineer to join their growing team. This is a great opportunity for either a Junior- Mid level candidates to transition into the renewables space or a senior candidate with High-Voltage experience further develop their career.

Responsibilities

  • Perform HV testing and commissioning of primary equipment (AC and DC) for both LV and HV assets and equipment including but not limited to power transformers, auxiliary transformers, and switchgear
  • Perform secondary injection relay testing in transmission, distribution, generation, and traction environments
  • Test SCADA systems and communication systems
  • Plan and integrate new protection and control schemes to new and existing ‘in service’ schemes
  • Review design to evaluate constructability and utilise approved documentation and drawings to test and validate protection schemes.
  • Create innovative commissioning strategies to minimise project expenditure
  • Provide effective high level specialist engineering support and advice in relation to testing and commissioning of primary and secondary electrical equipment
  • Develop commissioning sequencing plans and schedules
  • Develop and implement commissioning plans for allocated projects

Requirements

  • Technical expertise and sound knowledge of commissioning engineering principles/concepts
  • Tertiary qualification (Bachelor degree or equivalent) in Electrical/Electronic Engineering
  • Minimum of 5 years industry experience in testing and commissioning primary and secondary protection and control equipment
  • Proven ability to develop and lead commissioning activities in an electrical utility industry
  • Proficient in initial formulation and implementation of all commissioning procedures, in accordance with the project technical specification and statutory requirements
  • Demonstrated knowledge of risk management principles
  • Ability to visualise a completed project before it is built in order to assess its risks, opportunities and resource requirements
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
