
Controls Engineer
To support our clients’ continuous growth and demand across major Energy sector projects, we are on the lookout to hire an experienced Controls Engineer to provide engineering discipline technical support to Plant and Onshore projects teams for the delivery of engineering outcomes in the support of asset objectives. In this role you will work in a multi-disciplined engineering team reporting to the Technical Support Lead, alongside a small and specialised team of Instrument and Controls Engineers of varying seniority.
This role is being offered as a 1-year Day rate contract assignment. You will be based in modern high-rise Perth CBD offices that fully support remote and flexible-hybrid Working from Home setups.
As a Controls Engineer, your main duties and responsibilities will include (but not limited to):
- Perform timely turnaround of EPCM deliverables and responses to technical queries to facilitate procurement, contracts, construction, commissioning, and project close out activities.
- Communication of engineering issues to Engineering or Discipline Lead, highlighting risks or areas of concern and how these are being managed.
- Identifying and managing opportunities during “Assess” and “Select” phases.
- Responsible for preparing the Scopes of Work for minor/medium CAPEX/OPEX activities. sufficient to enable outsourcing of detailed engineering work.
- Responsible for justifying current and future work programs and ensuring their inclusion in the facility budget process.
- Responsible for managing expenditure and delivery of engineering scope within approved budgets.
- Providing technical recommendations and agreement for engineering changes and deviations.
We are seeking qualified individuals who have the following skills and experience:
- Controls discipline Engineering experience within the Oil & Gas industry.
- Experience with Triconex and Honeywell DCS (TDC3000) highly valued.
- Experience in Process Hazard Analysis and Functional Safety (HAZOP, LOPA, IEC 61511)
- Ability to identify and assess engineering risks in design and execution phases.
- Effective decision making in the presence of uncertainty and risk and considering and balancing business context e.g. technical, cost, schedule.
- Able to work autonomously – perform investigations, consider impact of deviations, resolve and manage technical issues.
- Demonstrable stakeholder management skills and the ability to prioritise work and deliverables effectively.
- Degree Qualification in Engineering will be highly desirable.
