Our client
Our client is a statutory agency tasked with the significant responsibility of protecting Australia’s national interests from foreign threats. As well as collecting and analysing foreign intelligence, our client provides information security services to the Australian Government.
The role
The individual will have extensive knowledge in current industry methods for evaluating, implementing, and disseminating information technology (IT) security assessment, monitoring, detection, and remediation tools and procedures, utilizing standards-based concepts and capabilities. They will also be well-versed in cyber security and privacy principles, particularly in managing risks related to the use, processing, storage, and transmission of information or data. Additionally, they will have expertise in identifying cyber threats and vulnerabilities, as well as in understanding critical information systems that were designed without security considerations. The person will possess strong skills in performing risk assessments and system reviews, technical writing, including developing and editing assessment products, interpreting vulnerability scanner results to identify vulnerabilities, interfacing with customers, and preparing and delivering briefings.
As the security assessor, your major responsibilities will include:
- Developing security compliance processes and assessing effectiveness of security controls,
- Perform security reviews and identify gaps in security architecture resulting in recommendations for inclusion in the risk management strategy
- Participate in Risk Governance processes to provide security risk, mitigations and input on other technical risk
- Verify that application software/network/system security postures are implemented as stated, document deviation and recommend required corrections.
