Responsibilities

  • Manages and progresses assessment processes for development applications/projects and works on the location which require approval under the Certain Acts

  • Liaises with applicants, relevant third parties, internal and external stakeholders in relation to development applications/projects and ancillary activities.

  • Prepares and manages referrals to external agencies and third parties including Heritage Council of WA.

  • Drafts submissions to senior managers relating to development applications / projects.

  • Reviews and maintains development planning policies, guidelines and procedures.

  • Maintains detailed records of development assessments, referrals and determinations.

  • Prepares and manages briefs and procurement processes for relevant professional services when required.

  • Actively contributes to a busy team that is outcome focused and aligned to our strategic objectives.

  • Undertakes other duties as directed.

Essential

  • Demonstrated experience of assessment and processing of development planning applications.

  • Experience in development planning, urban design, heritage and/or development legislation, methodologies and practices.

  • Well-developed IT skills particularly in relation to managing and manipulating electronic records including digital plans (GIS or similar).

  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, including the ability to foster strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Strong drafting skills including experience in producing quality reports to senior level managers.

  • Outcomes focussed with demonstrated planning and organisational skills, excellent attention to detail and proven ability to meet deadlines under pressure in a very fast paced work environment.
