Our client, a leading transportation organisation in Queensland, is seeking a Designer – Legibility to join the Rail and Transit Legibility Program (RATLR). This critical role will focus on developing and finalising the Legibility Style and Design Guide for customer-facing products across Queensland’s public transport network. This program is aimed at enhancing legibility and accessibility to help customers navigate complex journeys and new transport services such as the Brisbane Metro and Cross River Rail.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and finalise the Legibility Style and Design Guide to ensure consistency across all customer information products.
  • Work closely with the Marketing and Communications team to align design elements with the organisation’s brand.
  • Collaborate with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders to define design specifications and gather feedback.
  • Manage the process of drafting and finalising design decisions while balancing competing objectives.
  • Facilitate meetings with stakeholders to drive consensus and ensure smooth design integration into various products.
  • Apply the established design guide to various products deployed across the public transport network.

Key Requirements:

  • Proven experience in user-focused design, with a strong portfolio demonstrating your ability to manage complex design projects.
  • Experience working with multiple stakeholders to develop and document design decisions.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to engage effectively with a range of internal and external teams.
  • Strong understanding of design principles, with experience in developing style guides and applying them to various products.
  • Highly organised, with strong time management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ideally, experience or knowledge in transport information design or related industries is beneficial, but not mandatory.
