About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a dedicated HSE Coordinator to become a key member for our clients team. This role will focus on overseeing Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) compliance on-site (Perth), ensuring adherence to safety regulations and legislative requirements. You will collaborate with site management to drive continuous improvements in workplace health and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Health, Safety, and Environment:
- Roll out and effectively apply Codes of Practice, Safe Work Method Statements, and Job Safety Analyses in accordance with company guidelines.
- Support the process of investigating and resolving hazard reports and incidents efficiently.
- Ensure the successful application of HSE policies and procedures across the site.
- Serve as the site representative during external HSE audits.
- Coordinate and facilitate safety training programs to maintain compliance with company and legal standards.
- Stay informed about state and national HSE legislation and ensure ongoing compliance.
- Offer guidance on site rules and control measures while providing necessary technical support.
- Assist the HSEQ Manager in maintaining compliance with ISO 14001, 45001, and 9001 accreditation requirements.
- Oversee and execute the internal safety audit schedule for the site.
- Gather and compile HSE reports and key performance data.
Safety-Specific Duties:
- Conduct and review risk assessments for site activities.
- Maintain and update the site risk register, ensuring risks are managed using appropriate control measures.
- Balance the focus between high-frequency/low-consequence risks and low-frequency/high-consequence risks.
- Champion and uphold safe working practices for high-risk tasks, including mobile equipment and lifting operations.
- Keep training and competency records current.
- Deliver safety-related training and presentations to communicate key insights and improvement strategies.
- Conduct inductions for employees and subcontractors, ensuring accurate record-keeping.
- Investigate incidents, near misses, and accidents, identifying causes and recommending corrective measures.
- Ensure timely reporting of major incidents and workplace injuries to management and appropriate authorities.
- Perform regular site inspections to assess safety and housekeeping standards.
- Handle Return to Work coordination, liaising with medical professionals and managing injury claims.
- Oversee the Health & Safety Committee, ensuring proper documentation and communication with both management and workers.
- Assist with contractor safety compliance, including ensuring adequate provisions such as first aid kits, fire extinguishers, and spill response equipment.
General Duties:
- Operate in a collaborative and team-focused manner.
- Immediately report and address any hazards to ensure a safe workplace.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
- Support customer inquiries regarding safety compliance for tenders.
- Perform various administrative tasks as needed.
About You
- Certificate IV in Workplace Health and Safety or equivalent.
- Experience with integrated HSEQ management frameworks.
- Expertise in risk assessment, incident analysis, WHS consultation, and return-to-work programs.
- 2-3 years of HSE experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Proficiency in written and verbal English.
- Strong business and operational awareness.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Analytical mindset with a solutions-driven approach.
- Effective presentation and communication abilities.
- Adaptable and resilient in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong influencing and negotiation skills.
- Capable of managing processes and ensuring accountability.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and related software.
