The client
Our client is a statutory agency tasked with the significant responsibility of protecting Australia’s national interests from foreign threats. As well as collecting and analysing foreign intelligence, our client provides information security services to the Australian Government.
The role:
The role involves leading the review and preparation of technical systems for IT Security assessment, managing relationships with technical teams to enhance system security, and overseeing the team’s relationship with IT Security. Key responsibilities include conducting security control assessments, advising on security documentation, and contributing to ICT Security policies and governance. The position also involves leading threat and risk assessments, collaborating with external partners for authority to operate status, and developing security documentation processes. Additionally, the role requires conducting threat modelling using methods like STRIDE or MITRE frameworks.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
- At least 2 years’ experience as a security specialist working across security architecture, security and risk management, communication and network security or security operations domains.
- Experience ensuring technical systems adhere to Essential Eight, ISM, and PSPF frameworks.
- Proven ability to communicate complex technical systems to non-technical audiences.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Proven record building, managing, and enhancing relationships with stakeholders.
- Experience developing, managing, and implementing SOPs and procedures in support of security accreditation frameworks.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology.
- Experience managing complex projects.
- Experience with the use of cloud-based technologies.
