We’re currently seeking experienced Lead Data Engineers to join a federal agency at the forefront of data-driven innovation. Working within a high-impact team, you’ll contribute to the design and delivery of scalable, cloud-based data solutions that drive key agency objectives across compliance, analytics, and digital transformation.

You’ll be responsible for leading the development and optimisation of enterprise-grade data architecture and pipelines, with a strong focus on Azure-based solutions. As a mentor and technical leader, you’ll help shape the agency’s data engineering practices while delivering robust, efficient, and scalable data products.

Key Duties:

  • Design and optimise data lakes, CI/CD, and Synapse pipelines within the Azure ecosystem.
  • Develop scalable and reusable architecture patterns aligned with enterprise goals.
  • Lead major data migration and integration projects to support digital change programs.
  • Ensure data quality, governance, and performance across critical pipelines.
  • Mentor junior engineers and guide adoption of modern data engineering practices.
  • Drive innovation and continuous improvement in Azure data engineering.


Skills & Experience Required:

  • Demonstrated experience in data engineering with a focus on Azure services (Synapse, Data Lake).
  • Strong technical background in SQL, Python (PySpark), and data modelling.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement scalable data pipelines and architectures.
  • Proficiency in DevOps practices within Azure and experience with CI/CD frameworks.
  • Skilled in designing tabular models and building high-performance data pipelines.
  • Relevant qualifications in computer science, engineering or ICT; Azure certifications highly desirable.
