
Lead Security Engineer
Our client is a federal government organisation with offices throughout Australia. Due to growth, they are seeking a Lead Security Engineer – Zero Trust to join their team in their Richmond or Geelong office. This will be a 12-month initial contract with further 12-month extensions, 37.5-hour week, with a hybrid work arrangement.
The Zero Trust Lead plays a crucial role in leading the design, implementation, and management of zero trust security across clients systems. The role requires working closely with and influencing multi-disciplinary teams to develop and maintain zero trust security processes, ensuring robust protection of digital assets. The role requires a deep understanding of zero trust principles, advanced security technologies, and hands-on experience in cyber security.
Please note, that the successful candidate must have a NV1 clearance prior to commencing in the role.
Key duties and responsibilities
- Responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:
- Develop the zero trust work plan for the client
- Working within an agile delivery framework, lead the design and implementation of zero trust security architecture and frameworks
- Staying up to date with the latest security trends, technologies, and regulatory requirements
- Collaborate with stakeholders across the organisation to achieve security and usability objectives

Essential criteria
- Demonstrated familiarity with zero trust principles (particularly NIST ZTF)
- Extensive knowledge of security principles, standards, and best practices
- Demonstrated experience delivering technically challenging programs
- Experience and strong knowledge of orchestration and automation in a security environment
- Demonstrated experience working across and influencing multiple teams
Desirable criteria
- Considerable experience with Azure, M365 and/or Amazon technologies
- Familiarity with security frameworks such as NIST CSF
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills and stakeholder management skills
