Ready to bring your legal expertise to one of Australia’s top ASX-listed media companies? We’re looking for a sharp, strategic ER/IR Legal Counsel to lead on complex employment law matters and help drive compliance, integrity, and fairness across our client’s dynamic and diverse business.

Based in Sydney, this true in-house role puts you at the heart of a dynamic, fast-moving media organisation. From high-stakes investigations to navigating external claims and conciliation processes, you’ll be a trusted legal advisor partnering closely with our People & Culture team and business leaders.

What You’ll Do:

  • Provide clear, strategic legal advice on a wide range of employment matters – think contracts, disputes, terminations, and employee rights.
  • Lead complex investigations and high-risk employee relations issues, including representation in legal proceedings like unfair dismissal conciliations.
  • Partner with the People & Culture team to support employee cases, policy development, and workplace initiatives.
  • Advise on industrial relations matters, including EBA negotiations and union engagement.
  • Manage external legal firms on complex matters, ensuring strong outcomes and cost-effective solutions.
  • Deliver training and create legal resources to embed compliance and best practices across the business.

What You’ll Bring:

  • A law degree (LLB) and admission to practice in Australia.
  • 4-6 years+ PAE, with solid experience in employment law-tribunal and court representation highly regarded.
  • A proven ability to handle complex disputes and deliver commercially sound legal advice.
  • Deep knowledge of Australian employment law and regulations.
  • Exceptional judgement, discretion, and communication skills, with a knack for juggling priorities under pressure.
