Job Title: Management Accountant / General Accountant
Location: Canberra, ACT
Contract Duration: 12 months with the option to extend for another 12 months

About the Role:
This role is integral to the finance team, providing essential support to the Finance Manager and engaging with various business units. The Management Accountant will be responsible for delivering accurate financial reporting, budgeting, and month-end processes, as well as contributing to financial projects and initiatives that support the organisation’s strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare data sets for board and executive reporting.
  • Investigate budget variances and enhance financial understanding across the business.
  • Support month-end journal preparation and process enhancement.
  • Conduct adjusting journals and provide coding error education.
  • Assist with ad hoc reporting and system testing.
  • Prepare FBT returns and act as a backup for finance team members.
  • Manage fixed assets and lease asset accounting.

Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience in management accounting.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience with financial reporting.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey financial concepts.
  • Knowledge of lease accounting and AASB 16.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics F&O or similar systems.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting or Finance.
  • CPA/CA membership or progress towards it is highly desirable.

  • Work Rights: Australian citizenship required. Our client is unable to sponsor work visas.
  • Security Clearance: Baseline clearance (or ability to obtain and maintain).
  • Pre-employment Check: Reference checks, National Police Check, Worker Screening Checks, and/or Working with Children Check (as required).
