We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join a dynamic team on a permanent basis, focusing on the design and development of mineral processing plants. If you have extensive experience and expertise in engineering, particularly in the design of mechanical systems and winches, this is a great opportunity to work on exciting projects with a forward-thinking company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop mechanical systems, with a focus on winch products and their integration into mineral processing plants.
  • Conduct detailed engineering calculations, simulations, and analyses to ensure the efficiency and safety of mechanical designs.
  • Oversee the review and validation of mechanical deliverables to meet project specifications and industry standards.
  • Manage the coordination of mechanical designs with drafting and project teams to ensure alignment with project goals.
  • Perform failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) and risk assessments for mechanical components and systems.
  • Provide technical support and leadership in the selection of materials and equipment for mechanical packages.
  • Ensure mechanical designs adhere to regulatory requirements and engineering best practices.
  • Monitor and track project schedules, ensuring mechanical deliverables are completed on time and within scope.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and contractors to ensure the proper specification, procurement, and installation of winches and other mechanical components.
  • Lead and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing mechanical design processes and project delivery standards.

Key Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering, recognised by Engineers Australia.
  • 8+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a focus on minerals processing or heavy industry.
  • Strong experience in the design and development of winch systems or similar heavy equipment.
  • Proficiency in engineering design software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and analysis tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects from concept to delivery, including scheduling, risk management, and budgeting.
  • Excellent understanding of relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, including design, drafting, and external contractors.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present technical information clearly.
  • Full, unrestricted working rights in Australia.
