Principal Business Analyst

We are currently looking for a Principal Business Analyst to join a state government department based in Brisbane CBD (2 days WFH pw) for a daily rate contract until 30.06.2025 + likely extensions.

The Principal Business Analyst will play a significant role in ensuring that the next release of a bespoke computer system aligns with business requirements and optimises organisational processes. The system you will work across improves information sharing internally and collaboration with other departments/stakeholders.
Key objectives:

  • To facilitate the integration the next release (R3) of the bespoke system that supports business objectives and enhances productivity.
  • To liaise with stakeholders to ensure that the system functionalities meet end-user needs.
  • To ensure the delivery of a solution that is in line with government policies, budgetary constraints, and project timelines.

Responsibilities:

Documentation and Analysis:

  • Analyse and synthesise information gathered to create a clear set of business processes / practice flows for the new system.
  • Document and map current state and required future state processes

    Stakeholder Management:

  • Develop and maintain exceptional stakeholder relationships
  • Make recommendations including regarding potential inclusions in communications.

    Risk and Governance:

  • Provide advice and recommendations to project governance to help manage risk

    Process Improvement:

  • Document and map current state and required future state processes
  • Support the development of training materials

    Project Support and Management:

  • Collaborate with project managers to ensure that business analysis activities align with project goals and timelines.
  • Participate in project planning sessions and provide business analysis expertise to inform project decision-making.
  • Assist with the prioritisation of project deliverables and features based on business impact.

    Change Management Support:

  • Contribute to the development of training materials and documentation that describe new processes and features.

    Implementation and Post-implementation Support:

  • Establishes mechanisms for handover to business as usual

    Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • A high level of proficiency in business analysis techniques and tools.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities to solve complex issues.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Working knowledge of project management methodologies such as Agile or PRINCE2.
