Program Manager
This large government body is currently seeking a Program Manager to play a critical role in overseeing and managing a program of high impact projects which deliver transformational change across people, process, technology and data domains.
Your brand new role will see you guide, influence and direct outcomes through close collaboration with stakeholders ensuring the delivery of the program within budget, schedule and defined quality metrics. This role will have a significant focus on planning, directing and governing the program of work from both a digital and business perspective in order to ensure the organisation’s long term success.
Key responsibilities
- Lead, oversee and manage a program of projects that relate to key strategic outcomes for the organisation
- Provide leadership, guidance and support to project managers and other project team staff to support the successful delivery of projects
- Work closely with the Program Sponsor and Senior Leaders across the business in order to align program objectives with business and digital/technology strategies
- Ensure regular, transparent communication and updates to all stakeholders across the program of work
- Actively support the Program Sponsor in designing and implementation of the program of work which delivers on the desired outcomes
- Act as a key liaison between Digital and Business Delivery branches and the business units facilitating collaboration and ensuring alignment with strategic goals
- Complete program documentation and manage finances in accordance with agreed business
- Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities to enhance program delivery, performance and governance
- Prepare and present regular and accurate program reporting to senior leaders, committee/s and other stakeholders as required
- Ensure that projects are proactively identifying, managing and reporting risk and issues, including dependencies across projects, political, business impact, market impact, and technical complexity.
- Coordinate the projects and their interdependencies between the various projects and programs in the program
Skills, knowledge and experience
- Proven experience in program or project management including management of multiple projects concurrently within large and complex organisations
- PRINCE2 qualification and accreditation in Agile (e.g. Scrum, Lean, XP) project management frameworks
- Proven experience in successful budget responsibility for projects over $5 million
- Extensive project lifecycle experience understanding the planning and delivery of projects in its entirety
- Digital mindset first, looking for ways to reform and modernise ways of working
- Demonstrated experience in building high performance teams
- High level of written and oral communication skills with excellent attention to detail in written work
- High competency in scheduling & dependency mapping
- Proven confidence in verbal communication with the successful ability to deal with people at all levels of an organisation including liaising with a wide range of diverse stakeholders
- Strong understanding of delivery methodologies and experience working in Agile environments
- Experience working with Jira/Confluence and Microsoft product suite
- Previous experience in insurance or health related fields
