Project Engineer - Perth - Contract

A leading mining company based in Perth is seeking a highly experienced Project Engineer to join their team for an initial 12-month contract. Reporting to the Project Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that Perth and site teams, as well as contractors, are technically supported to deliver projects safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.
About the Role:
As a Project Engineer, you will bring deep technical expertise in construction, backed by a solid understanding of contemporary mine site practices. You will foster collaborative relationships with stakeholders and ensure seamless delivery of project outcomes.
Project Scope:
Projects will primarily focus on upgrading Port and Mine Site Laboratory facilities, including:
- Design and construction of new laboratory facilities.
- Refurbishment, modification, and upgrade of existing facilities.
- Installation of automated laboratory equipment.
- Mechanical systems including dust extraction, HVAC, compressed air, and chilled water.
- Civils/Earthworks, Concrete, Structural, Mechanical, Piping, and HV/LV Electrical works.
Multi-disciplinary experience across similar infrastructure projects (e.g., NPI Facilities, Workshops, Laboratories) is highly desirable.
Key Accountabilities:
- Provide technical support to ensure safe delivery of projects within scope, schedule, and budget.
- Manage technical aspects during project development stages, including studies and design.
- Support contracting companies and multiple projects simultaneously.
- Collaborate with Area Managers, Superintendents, Supervisors, Project Managers, and Stakeholders.
- Attend planning, risk assessment, and project kickoff meetings.
- Facilitate weekly team meetings and participate in field leadership initiatives.
- Oversee commissioning plans, inspections, and project closeouts, ensuring compliance with technical standards.
- Lead incident investigations and ensure adherence to Technical Query (TQ) and Non-Conformance (NCR) management processes.
Qualifications and Skills Required:
- Extensive experience managing multi-disciplinary teams in the resources sector.
- Proven ability to oversee multiple concurrent projects to completion within quality and schedule parameters, with a focus on SMP competencies.
- Strong knowledge of Business Management Systems and safety leadership principles.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with demonstrated leadership abilities.
