The client
Our client is a statutory agency tasked with the significant responsibility of protecting Australia’s national interests from foreign threats. As well as collecting and analysing foreign intelligence, our client provides information security services to the Australian Government.

The role
The Project Manager is responsible for contributing to the planning and implementation of projects, including defining the scope and requirements, developing plans and schedules, managing the project’s budget, overseeing and planning resource allocation and work packages, managing risks and issues and communicating formally and informally on the project’s progress.
The Project Manager will oversee projects under limited direction. The Project Manager will be a highly organised, dynamic, outcome orientated individual with excellent communication skills who can think critically and utilise their excellent problem solving skills, as well as undertake negotiations, delegate effectively, and make timely decisions.
The Project Manager will take full responsibility for the definition, approach, facilitation and satisfactory completion of medium-scale projects.
Provide effective leadership to the project team. Adopt appropriate project management methods and tools. Manage the change control process and assess and manage risks.
The Project Manager will ensure that realistic project plans are maintained and deliver regular and accurate communication to stakeholders.

Duties and responsibilities

  1. Lead complex ICT projects in the planning, management and delivery of new capability and system enhancements.
  2. Establish and maintain project planning artefacts in accordance with the endorsed project management methods and ensure their continued suitability to define, control and manage all work associated with a project.
  3. Undertake project risk management to identify, analyse, evaluate, treat and review risks and issues.
  4. Plan and manage phases of system development or enhancement including requirement analysis, system design, testing, implementation and transition to operations.
  5. Engage with stakeholders and manage and influence their requirements and expectations through the life of the project and support project governance bodies as necessary.
  6. Achieve project deliverables in accordance with the approved project scope, meeting quality standards and quality control measures.
  7. Manage procurements in a timeframe supporting the wider project requirements.
  8. Codification and Transfer of knowledge relating to work activities undertaken under this contract to Commonwealth Officers.
