Exciting Opportunity: APS4 Actuary Analyst (Federal Government Contract)
Talent International is seeking a skilled APS4 Actuary Analyst for a Federal Government client located in Surry Hills. This is a 12-month contract with a competitive hourly rate of $43.82 + Super and potential for extension. You’ll be working a 38-hour week (7.6 hours per day), contributing your analytical skills within a professional, high-impact team.
About the Role
The APS4 Actuary Analyst will operate within defined parameters, leveraging established policies, practices, and procedures to support the agency’s objectives. This role will focus on data extraction, cleansing, and preparation, working with key tools and software to drive actuarial monitoring, data analysis, and operational insights.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Management: Extract, cleanse, and prepare data from multiple sources, including the data warehouse.
- Analytical Tools: Utilize Microsoft Office, SAS, and statistical modeling techniques for actuarial analyses, cost-benefit assessments, and reporting.
- Project Collaboration: Perform ad hoc modeling, report generation, and regular updates on performance monitoring.
- Effective Communication: Report work progress and outcomes, delivering clear and precise analysis in written and verbal formats.
Essential Criteria
- Experience: 0-2 years in actuarial, data analytics, or data science fields.
- Education: Relevant academic background in Actuarial Studies, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or equivalent.
- Team Collaboration: Ability to work independently or as part of a team on urgent and long-term projects with high energy and enthusiasm.
- Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and knowledge of statistical methods.
- Communication: Clear and effective written and verbal communication with sound judgment.
Desirable Skills
- Progress toward Associate/Fellowship qualifications within the Institute of Actuaries of Australia (or international equivalent).
- Understanding of NDIS and issues impacting people with disabilities in Australia.
- Familiarity with programming languages like SAS, Python, R, or SQL.
