Overview:
We are seeking an experienced EL1 Level Risk Manager to join a high-profile federal government department. This role plays a key part in identifying, evaluating, and prioritising organisational risks and opportunities, while leading the coordination and implementation of risk mitigation strategies.

You will have demonstrated expertise in strategic and operational risk management within a large-scale or government environment and the ability to provide specialist advice to senior stakeholders.

Key Duties:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain risk management policies, frameworks, and guidelines
  • Provide specialist advice, training, and support on risk analysis, assessment, and mitigation strategies
  • Conduct strategic and operational risk assessments, reporting on control effectiveness
  • Establish and monitor key risk indicators and identify corrective actions
  • Use risk and mitigation data to enhance insight and support business decisions
  • Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team, promoting continuous improvement and innovation

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Demonstrated experience in complex risk management planning and execution (SFIA Level 5)
  • Proven ability to provide expert-level advice in information assurance and quality assurance practices
  • Strong understanding of government policy, governance frameworks, and compliance standards
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills
  • Experience preparing executive-level reports, briefs, and strategic documentation
