Our client is a federal government organisation with offices throughout Australia. Due to growth, they are seeking a SAS Developer to join their team in their Richmond or Geelong office. This will be a 12-month initial contract with further extensions, 7.5-hour day, with a hybrid work arrangement.

The SAS Developer will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining SAS programs that support the needs of the clients Enterprise Datawarehouse. This role includes supporting daily data delivery process, month end processing and responding to data related requests in the BAU pipeline.

The role will focus on collaborating with key business areas in the development and implementation of consumable reports and analytics to address key risks and emerging trends within these areas.

Key Responsibilities
Data Delivery

  • Develop and improve existing reports and data interfaces using SAS.
  • Convert existing SAS code into high quality SAS code that is efficient (fast), automated, maintainable, and follows industry best practices.
  • Will be expected to mentor colleagues and be proactive in developing colleague skill sets to have a better understanding of SAS coding.
  • Develop, code, test, debug, and document SAS programs in SAS Enterprise Guide or SAS Studio.
  • Utilise advanced SAS Macros and SQL to meet business requirements.
  • Require cross-environment coding for data manipulation across SAS 9.4 and Viya environments (with data in SAS, Parquet, and CAS formats)
  • Analyse business needs and deploy SAS programs in Production.
  • Identify gaps in requirements and communicate effectively to resolve issues.
  • Be the SAS SME within the D&A team for best practices, Architecture, and security practices in SAS

To apply for this opportunity, you will need as follows:

Essential criteria

  • Data analysis and development in SAS analytics platform (Including SAS Viya 4.0 experience)
  • Strong expertise in SAS coding (preferably having gone through “SAS Programming 2” course), work with SAS Enterprise Guide/SAS Studio against clustered environments.
  • Experience with usage of “proc cas” to work against CAS engine libraries will be preferable. Proficiency in working across SAS 9.4 and SAS Viya environments with Linux Servers
  • Ability to work independently along with excellent analytical and communication skills.
  • SAS Certified Base Programmer, preferred: SAS Certified Advanced
  • Expertise in SQL

Desirable criteria

  • Experience in Python, R or Java (preferred)
  • Experience with version control tools and processes (Gitlab CI/Bitbucket/Bamboo)
  • Ability to provide a mentor role within the team.
