
Senior AI Systems Analyst
- 12 months + 12 months
- You can be based in Canberra, Sydney, Brisbane or Melbourne
- Baseline clearance preferred, citizenship minimum requirement.
- You are also expected to travel to Canberra as required, typically not more than 4 times per year, at you own expense

An exciting opportunity is available for a Senior Systems Analyst with strong experience in AI/ML technologies to join a government agency’s Innovation and Digital Services team. This is a highly collaborative role where you’ll work closely with business stakeholders, AI engineers, developers, and executives to design and deliver innovative software systems that incorporate emerging technologies.
As part of the AI & Frontier Technologies team, you’ll play a key role in bridging the gap between business needs and technical solutions. Ideal for someone with a strong analysis background, hands-on technical capability, and a passion for innovation, this role offers the chance to contribute to high-impact digital transformation projects within a supportive and future-focused team.
Key Duties:
- Lead planning, scoping, and requirements gathering for complex AI/ML initiatives, ensuring alignment with stakeholder needs.
- Design AI/ML solutions and Proofs of Concept using tools such as AWS, Python, and CI/CD.
- Document data interdependencies and troubleshoot production systems as part of a multi-disciplinary delivery team.
- Collaborate with business users, executives, and global counterparts to clarify emerging technology use cases.
- Contribute to market analysis, cost-benefit evaluations, business cases, and executive presentations.
- Communicate with influence and guide stakeholders through technical and non-technical decision-making processes.
Skills & Experience Required:
- Strong experience in business/systems analysis, with demonstrated ability to define, manage, and prioritise complex requirements.
- Proven track record designing AI-driven solutions using technologies including AWS, Python, Natural Language Processing, Deep Learning, and MLOps.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, including workshop facilitation and documentation of technical artefacts.
- Ability to work in an Agile environment, supporting iterative delivery cycles.
- Skilled in evaluating business feedback and translating it into system enhancements or refinements.
- Relevant ICT qualifications and/or industry certifications.
