Join a leading mining company as a Senior Cost Controller, contributing your expertise to manage, monitor, and report on critical project cost control processes. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on large-scale, complex projects in the resources sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and maintain cost management systems, processes, and procedures for consistent project cost control, budget tracking, forecasting, and performance analysis.
- Oversee project cost and progress reporting, ensuring accurate and timely delivery of information to the project management team.
- Collaborate with the project controls team to align cost aspects with broader functions, particularly planning.
- Take ownership of essential project control functions, including:
- Defining and applying the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) for consistent project reporting.
- Supporting procurement processes, including setting up contracts and purchase orders in PIMS and SAP.
- Managing project month-end VOWD, accruals, and expense allocation to cost centres and WBSs.
- Conducting cost forecasting, risk identification, and variance analysis.
- Ensuring diligent use of the project change management process (PCN).
- Providing progress and performance measurements using earned value management (EVM) techniques.
- Evaluating contractor progress claims and reconciling them with budgets and contracts.
- Monitoring cost management systems and SAP for accuracy and escalating variances.
- Support the quarterly capital planning process.
- Establish positive working relationships while upholding the company’s values.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will have:
- A minimum of 5 years of project cost control experience, preferably in mining, renewable energy, construction, or engineering.
- Proven expertise in managing cost components for large-scale projects, including cost control systems and financial reporting applications.
- A strong understanding of project control processes, including transitioning estimates to budgets, cash flow analysis, and forecasting.
- Proficiency in PIMS, SAP, and advanced Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with various stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Commerce or Finance.
- Project management or internationally accredited project controls certification is desirable.
