Talent International are currently recruiting an exciting Opportunity for a Senior Data Strategist to work for a NSW Government client based in Parramatta. This is an initial 6 month contract with the view to extend. The role is paying a daily rate of $545 plus superannuation. Aboriginal identified candidates are Encouraged to Apply.

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Data Strategist to develop a comprehensive Data Strategy for our client. This role combines technical expertise with culturally appropriate approaches to support outcomes for Aboriginal people in NSW.
This is an excellent opportunity to work at the intersection of data governance, Indigenous Data Sovereignty, and impactful decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a robust Data Strategy aligned with business objectives and Indigenous Data Sovereignty & Governance principles.
  • Collaborate with business units, IT teams, and Aboriginal stakeholders to establish effective data governance practices.
  • Create and maintain data governance policies, metadata management tools, data dictionaries, and workflows.
  • Manage high-level communications, including reports, briefings, and correspondence, ensuring factual and accurate information.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to embed evidence-based decision-making across the organization.

Essential Requirements

  • Technical Expertise:
    • Proven experience developing Data Governance Frameworks and Strategies.
    • Strong knowledge of data governance, management systems, and security protocols.
    • Proficiency in Salesforce and familiarity with data visualization software.
  • Cultural Understanding:
    • Knowledge or willingness to learn Indigenous Data Sovereignty (IDS) concepts and principles.
  • Qualifications:
    • Formal qualifications in data administration systems or data architecture.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 2 years in a similar role focusing on data governance and workflows.
