Talent International is searching for an experienced Senior Security Administrator to join our state government client based in Brisbane CBD on an initial 5-month contract + likely extensions.

The role:

As a Senior Security Administrator, you will play a key role in managing ICT operational security infrastructure, mitigating risks, and ensuring compliance with industry best practices. Collaborating with technical teams, vendors, and service providers, you’ll contribute to delivering a secure, reliable, and enterprise-class security environment for the Department.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert advice on planning, development, and implementation of security infrastructure and process improvements.
  • Monitor and enhance the security compliance maturity level of the ICT environment, performing risk and vulnerability assessments.
  • Lead remediation of operational security issues and align with Queensland Government Information Standards and ACSC Essential 8 security controls.
  • Develop and maintain effective work practices within the Security Operations team.
  • Keep management informed of risks, issues, and emerging trends in operational security.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, government agencies, vendors, and partners.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience in managing operational security infrastructure in enterprise-level ICT environments.
  • Proficiency in at least three of the following:
    • Scripting (PowerShell)
    • Microsoft security products, such as Defender (workstations and servers), Intune, Sentinel (KQL), and more.
    • Web proxy (e.g., Zscaler)
  • Experience uplifting Microsoft Secure Score and establishing security baseline policies in Intune, including migrating security policies from AD and SCCM to Intune.

Other requirements:

  • Strong organisational and planning skills, with the ability to prioritise work and mitigate risks.
  • Proven ability to meet quality outcomes, maintain documentation, and ensure stakeholder expectations are met.
  • Team-oriented with excellent collaboration, communication, and initiative.
