Strategic Planning Officer
Our public sector client is seeking an experienced and strategic planner with substantial expertise in town planning, particularly within the framework of the Planning and Development Act 2005 and associated legislation. This role requires a deep understanding of the Metropolitan Region Scheme (MRS). You will play a key role in providing professional advice on development applications, subdivisions, and due diligence inquiries.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic planning advice and support, specifically within the Planning and Development Act 2005.
- Handle and review MRS omnibus amendments and zoning changes, as well as other region planning schemes and amendments.
- Participate in the development and review of strategic planning instruments like the Improvement Plan, District Structure Plan and State Planning Strategy.
- Provide expert advice on due diligence inquiries, development applications, and subdivisions.
- Review and assist in the development of local planning strategies and frameworks.
- Use Microsoft Office suite efficiently to create and manage documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and PDFs.
Required skills and experience:
- Extensive knowledge of the Planning and Development Act 2005 and other relevant legislation.
- Strong understanding of the Metropolitan Region Scheme (MRS) and planning amendments.
- Experience with strategic planning frameworks such as Improvement Plans, District Structure Plans, and local planning strategies.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and PDF).
- Ability to work autonomously and meet tight deadlines.
- Basic familiarity with GIS or CAD systems (willingness to learn is essential).
- Strong communication and analytical skills, with the ability to provide clear and concise planning advice.
