Water Design Engineer - Perth - Contract

Join a dynamic team and play a critical role in delivering detailed design solutions for water infrastructure projects across my clients mine sites. As a Design Engineer – Dewatering, you will take ownership of ensuring projects are designed safely, cost-effectively, and in compliance with Australian and my clients standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct hydraulic modelling for pipelines, borefields, pump stations, ponds, and tanks.
- Prepare and compile technical deliverables, including construction drawings, quantity estimates, and scope definitions.
- Facilitate project design reviews, incorporating field inspections and stakeholder requirements.
- Develop engineering deliverables such as pipeline schematics, general arrangements (GAs), P&IDs, and critical equipment selections.
- Contribute to capital estimates with quantity calculations.
- Coordinate operational readiness requirements for projects.
- Monitor project schedules, escalating risks where necessary.
- Provide construction support by addressing Technical Queries and updating design documentation as needed.
- Produce equipment data sheets and evaluate vendor proposals for budget and technical compliance.
- Ensure all designs adhere to statutory regulations, project standards, and best practices.
- Maintain clear communication about design progress, changes, risks, and issues.
- Collaborate effectively with other disciplines, ensuring a seamless exchange of information.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical Engineering (preferred), or Chemical/Civil Engineering recognized by Engineers Australia.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in piping systems and pipeline design, preferably within the mining or engineering consultancy sectors.
- Previous experience in mine dewatering is highly desirable.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Solid understanding of Australian and International standards in the mining and water industries.
- Familiarity with discipline technology and cross-discipline requirements.
- Proficiency in software tools such as Visio and ArcMap (preferred).
- Ability to travel to site for short-term engagements as required.
- Demonstrated ability to self-start and deliver on schedule and budget.
- Problem-solving mindset with the ability to “think outside the box.”
