Windows Server Engineer
We are seeking an experienced Windows Server Engineer to lead a Windows Server upgrade and migration project, ensuring a seamless transition while maintaining security, performance, and operational integrity.
As a Windows Server Engineer, you will:
- Assess the current Windows Server 2012 R2 environment (73 servers) for hardware, applications, and network dependencies.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define requirements and develop a comprehensive migration strategy.
- Draft detailed project plans, including timelines, resources, and risk mitigation strategies
- Execute in-place upgrades, fresh installations, and migrations of Windows Server.
- Configure and optimize server roles, features, and services.
- Migrate applications, databases, and workloads with minimal disruption.
- Conduct rigorous pre- and post-migration testing for functionality, performance, and reliability.
- Ensure data integrity and system compatibility throughout the migration process.
- Develop detailed documentation for configurations, processes, and procedures.
- Optimize the upgraded environment, implementing advanced features and security enhancements
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Proven expertise in Windows Server upgrade and migration projects.
- Deep understanding of Windows Server installation, configuration, management, and security.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Azure services, including VMs, networking, application gateways, and backup solutions.
- Proficiency in managing Active Directory, DNS, Certificate Services, and Group Policy.
- Strong networking skills, including VPNs, firewalls, and load balancers.
- Proficiency in PowerShell and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools for automation.
