The Role:
This Government Department is seeking an Automation Test Analyst to provide support on end-to-end automation and manual testing.

The Responsibilities:

  • Understand and Analyse business and functional requirements and architectural specification to be used to establish test conditions, scenarios and design test cases
  • Develop, write, document and execute automation testing
  • Design, write, document and execute test plans
  • Identify defects in a timely manner, document defects utilising test management tools, chase up defects resolutions
  • Support Test Management to Identify and implement opportunities to improve quality and reduce time to market.

Experience & Prerequisites:

  • Minimum 6 years experience as a Test Analyst focused on both automation & manual testing.
  • Proven experience in Automation testing using Selenium/Java
  • Proven experience utilising automated testing disciplines (desirable)
  • Demonstrated experience utilising Power Apps, Power BI and Dynamics 365 is essential.
  • Prior public sector experience is recommended.

Role Overview:

As a Senior Test Analyst, you will support the Test Lead and play a critical role in testing activities, including coordinating with project and operational teams and preparing comprehensive test documentation. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Testing Execution: Under the guidance of the Test Lead (and Lead Developer for specific enhancements), execute all assigned testing functions across the Program of Works and related applications.
  • Solution Review: Leverage your testing and business analysis skills to review developer changes, ensuring they align with business and technical requirements. Document results promptly and accurately.
  • Requirements Analysis: Collaborate with Technical and Business teams to translate complex business and technical requirements into precise test cases, ensuring alignment with project needs.
  • Testing Activities: Perform system, integration, performance, and regression testing, including defect logging and prioritization within established methodologies and frameworks. Retest amended defects to ensure compliance with specified requirements.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to facilitate test planning, preparation, execution, and defect resolution. Uphold high standards of quality and customer service to meet test execution deadlines for timely release.
  • Testing Tools and Methodologies: Utilise contemporary testing tools and demonstrate a deep understanding of testing methodologies.
  • Defect Management: Identify and document defects and potential improvements during test planning and execution phases.
  • Reporting: Provide detailed reports on test outcomes and contribute valuable insights during regular status meetings.
  • Test Planning and Estimation: Offer input into testing estimates and the master test plan, reviewing and agreeing on estimates with the Test Lead.
  • Issue and Risk Management: Escalate any issues and risks through appropriate channels.
  • Change Requests: Participate in the change request process as directed by the Test Lead.
  • Stakeholder Walkthroughs: Conduct walkthroughs of upcoming releases with business stakeholders when required.

Desirable Attributes:

  • Experience testing mobile applications, including support for mobile accessibility needs.
  • Proficiency with testing tools such as Browserstack, Ready API, LoadUI, and others.
  • Experience working within Agile SCRUM teams.
  • Familiarity with verifying integration with record management and other IT systems.
  • A university degree in IT or equivalent, and industry-recognized certifications such as ISTQB.
  • Background in large, complex, custom-built software development environments.
  • Experience using Microsoft Visual Studio, Microsoft DevOps, Azure, and GitHub environments.
