Our federal government client is seeking an experienced Enterprise Architect who will lead the ongoing maturity uplift of the architecture practice and support a collaborative approach across the Division in lifting Business Architecture, Information Systems Architecture (Data & Application) and Technology Architecture.

Essential criteria

They have a great opportunity for Cyber Security Engineer with strong security operations experience to join the team in a senior hands-on role in daily security operations, while also contributing to project work and architecture.

The role
As a Cyber Security Engineer, your role will be approximately 70% hands-on engineering and operations work, and 30% design and uplift. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • working on daily service tickets related to cyber security, and investigating alerts from the SOC / Defender inline with the security incident handling playbooks
  • Improving efficiency of Sentinel operations and creating Sentinel automation playbooks
  • Using tools to discover and assess vulnerabilities, developing responses to these, and progressively automating these to reduce manual effort
  • Uplifting data loss prevention solutions to protect data on endpoints and mobile devices
  • Designing and implementing security controls, and system hardening configurations on endpoints and servers
  • Defining and delivering cyber security awareness activities
  • Operationalizing deliverables from cyber security maturity enhancement projects
  • Designing and implementing identity and access management solutions, including provisioning/deprovisioning, role-based controls, single-sign on, privileged access management etc.

About you
To be successful in this role you will need:

  • Extensive experience at a senior level in Security engineering, operations, SOC/SIEM or similar
  • Strong current experience using and administrating Defender suite, Sentinel and other Microsoft security products
  • Experience in designing and implementing security solutions and controls, and improving and uplifting security posture
  • Solid experience in Microsoft/Azure environments, and experience with other tools such as Active Directory, Entra, Purview, Intune, etc.
  • Excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Leadership capabilities, and the ability to guide and upskill other staff, and the ability to work independently would be ideal
  • Be available to work onsite as required – minimum 2 days per week
